    Gone south

Here is a left over picture of Jim Farr with a Bogachiel
hatchery steelhead, rivers have started to look good, weather is nice and I am
leaving for Baja today. I heard a
pretty reliable rumor today that the Hoh tribe netted a 45-inch steelhead yesterday
and apparently sold it to a taxidermist from Port Angeles who was on hand with
$200.00 dollars. The fish is said
to have weighed 31 pounds. I hope it had a big brother who made it through. If you are looking to get out fishing I have quite a few dates …

    Shameless

This morning before light the elk
had come down into the front yard, the sea gulls were in the back yard, this it
turns out is a clear sign the weather is about to get really fowl again.

Earlier this week we had some tough fishing but for in the
last couple of days we seemed to get things dialed in.

I fished with Shane and his father Mark on the sol duc today
and things started out O.K. when Shane hooked a hot chromer on the first cast,
the action was come and go all day long and despite …

    Winter steelhead

    Absolutely awful fishing report.

Cold rain, sleet, snow, heavy hail, lightening, high water,
deep snow and slush, ice, and high winds.
The fishing otherwise has been decent and it sure hasn’t been that
crowded. I had to cancel a ton of
trips dueNow the roads are better but the rivers
    are in rough shape. Hopefully
after the next week or so the worst of our winter weather will be over. Here is Jim, up from California somehow
smiling despite being absolutely dumped on by every kind of foul weather ever
    devised. Mike …

    December steelhead

This slightly dusky hatchery steelhead of Chad’s is from just before the first storm. It was one of five or six we intended to catch that day but it turns out the other fish never even bit. This is shocking because the next day my client Jim managed to hook 2, and no offence Jim, but this guy can fish circles around you. I guess that it just goes to show that there is more to …
