Lots of giant chrome salmon!!
So, thats the good part.
They really aren’t biting well at all, they are stuck in the lower rivers, the tribes are netting them all up on each Monday morning.
So yes, we are hooking a few very nice fish, there are some trout around, and we can hike around and find some summer steelhead. But for the number of fish entering the river on a daily basis, the fishing is really not what you would hope.
Its gonna take a lot of rain, at least three inches, to get things back on track. It’s no where in sight, but if we could get it we would see a shot at some of the nicest Coho we have seen in 10 years.
As it is we have been doing best VERY early in the morning on salmon, and then switching focus to the more willing cutthroat.
I hate to even mention it, but those willing to pick up a gear rod and wander to the dark side have been doing quite well, quite quickly, most days.
